چکیده

Basilar skull fractures in horses can occur at any age, although young are particularly prone to this type of injury. This manuscript describes two foals with a basisphenoid bone fracture, clinical presentations ranging from mild neurological signs up severe compromise. The absence does not exclude fracture bone, as lethargy and retropharyngeal swelling may be the only signs. Radiography help define skeletal trauma involving basilar region head, but superimposition complex anatomy limits its use. Endoscopy guttural pouches also helpful, it provide enough evidence for diagnosis. Thus, computed tomography is optimal imaging technique rapid straightforward diagnosis, superior radiography defining location fragments well soft tissue involvement.
